From Design Thinking to Design Doing at Cisco:
Four Principles that Lead to Real Change

Design is much more than just how things look. Rather, Design is a skill set and a practice that defines how things work. It enables organizations to identify the right problems to solve -- and then create solutions that are truly desirable. All of this is accomplished by building deep empathy for customers and by applying principles of creativity, collaboration, and experimentation to the way products function. This way of working is called Design Thinking.

Join Jason Cyr, the Director of Design Transformation for Cisco’s Security Business, as he discusses how his billion-dollar business has developed and implemented its Cisco Design Thinking (CDT) program. In this 90-minute interactive session, learn how this global initiative has helped Cisco address HR challenges, such as improving employee on-boarding, creating a lovable culture, and enhancing the hiring and retention of diverse employees. Through specially crafted exercises, attendees will apply the CDT process to explore the power of decision making based on empathy, with the goal of retaining top talent within our respective organizations.

Jason Cyr is a life-long creative, artist, designer, and passionate leader with more than 20 years of experience in product design, innovation, business, and Design Thinking. Ensuring that any interaction between a person and technology is intuitive, meaningful, and satisfying, Jason builds multi-disciplinary teams of visual design, product design, user research, technical writing, and front-end development experts. These teams come together to create and encourage a culture of Design Thinking that values courage and beauty, questions everything, and embraces exploration and innovation through experimentation.

He has led a diverse creative career, starting in his teens as a commercial artist and sign painter and quickly spreading to the emerging fields of digital design, UX, and Design Thinking. While most of Jason's professional background has been focused on enterprise software, he has also co-founded a successful design agency and consulting practice. Notable former employers and clients include Ronald McDonald House, Disney Online Interactive, The Canadian Military, and RSA Security.
