NEW DRIVERS FOR IMPROVING WELL BEING IN A CORPORATE SETTING

The mandate for wellness is growing given the constant evolution of roles in business, rapid change, performance pressure, globalization, not to mention, fallout from the financial crisis.

Senior HR leaders are now seeing a full spectrum of problems and are taking a much more proactive approach to mental health and well being.  The range of concerns can run from personal wellness/happiness to family policy and support to fitness, to nutrition all the way to what is labelled in some settings as a ‘triple A threat:  anger, anxiety, and aggression. Building awareness and positive mindset can impact team performance, turnover, as well as behavioral health related to emotional regulation and resilience.

 

At this session we will learn from the positive response at Goldman Sachs related to people, performance and talent optimization as well as some of the practical recommendations from meQuilibrium that come from seeing issues in a wide variety of settings.

Stress, overwhelm, and burnout are growing, causing progressive organizations to re-think their posture and look at the new context for improving the employee experience.

Laura Young is Vice President, Benefits and Wellness at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York City. Laura has been instrumental in the development of the firm's overall wellness strategy, which includes on-site operations, case management, mental health strategy, and occupational health. In this capacity, she led the development of the firm's resilience strategy, which has included executing a bi-annual Americas Resilience Week and launching regular Mindfulness trainings. Laura enjoys running and received her BA in Exercise Science from Ithaca College and her MA in Exercise Physiology from Adelphia University.
